The Live Horse Racing Season 2006 starts Memorial Day weekend Friday May 26 - Monday May 29
Horse Racing Season continues through Labor Day weekend.
Ruidoso Downs Horse Racetrack boosts two tracks featuring quarter horse and thoroughbred racing.
During the live race season the race track is open:
Thursday, Saturday and Sunday from 11am to11pm
Friday from noon till midnight.

Saturday, June 17 2006, The Oak Ridge Boys. The Boys date back to 1943 and have received numerous rewards, gold, platinum and double platinum albums. Well known songs are Fancy Free and American Made.

Ruidoso Downs Race Track is home to the World’s Richest Quarter Horse Race
The All American Futurity
The first race was run at Ruidoso Downs in 1947. It would take hours to set up a race and local men would volunteer to judge the finish. The track was nothing more than a tilled road with a considerable uphill tilt.
The Birth of the All American Futurity began in 1959 when a shy two-year old filly named Galobar entered the gates at Ruidoso Downs. Twenty some odd seconds later, she made history by becoming the first All American Futurity winner. Total purse for the race was $129,686.85.
It would not be until 1982 that the winning connections of the All American Futurity would become instant millionaires when the total purse reached well over two million dollars. The notoriety and fame associated with instant millions grew the race into what it is today; a showcase of the who is who and more importantly, who is fastest in the world of American Quarter Horse racing.
